Adult Learning Programme

Our Adult Learning Programme addresses the needs of adults with limited life choices. We provide specialist training to signpost them onto further learning, employment and social development. We specifically work with the following groups of people:

• Mothers and fathers with young children, who can’t afford crèche facilities
• Low paid or unemployed people, who can’t afford to pay for learning opportunities
• Learners from ethnic minority groups, with diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, who need a protective learning environment
• People with English as a second language who need pre entry and entry level opportunities not provided by colleges
• Learners with literacy, numeracy and specialist learning needs, who need dedication and patience.

We run a range of courses, each designed to get meaningful outcomes. The courses include:

• ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
• Personal Development
• Literacy
• Information and Communication Technology

All our courses offer nationally recognised qualifications with support and signposting into employment, further education and volunteering opportunities.

We work in partnership with local authorities, schools, children’s centres and community organisations. We offer diverse communities an accessible, safe and community-led environment, with crèche facilities if needed.

This year we are training 350 people between 19 and 65 years old. In total over 1,400 people have taken part and benefited from our Adult Learning Programme.

We have very high standards on all our courses and as a result we have high learner retention and accreditation rates. Our feedback from partners and clients has been excellent and we are continuing to develop the programme’s success into the future.
