Description

Since early 2009, 24 students at risk of exclusion from City Academy have participated on our KS4 programme. These young people had low school attendance, learning literacy / numeracy difficulties and experienced problem behaviour.

Led by our experienced team, young people engaged in fun and creative activities that helped to increase their confidence and re-engage in a learning environment.

With the dedication of our team led by experienced tutor Chelle Parker, young people re-engaged with learning via practical and creative activities and by becoming part of a media team where they planned, produced and presented their own radio shows.

Twenty of the initial 24young people engaged, finished the course successfuly with all achieving NCFE accreditation equivalent to 1 or 2 GCSEs. The majority of them went back to school  having significantly improved attendance and overcome issues with learning.

“The feedback from the students and the staff who have worked with them has been extremely positive. [Students] have all successfully achieved the planned outcomes, due to the dedication and hard work of the course tutor and the strong relationship between Eclectic Productions and myself”.
